Shouldn't this be called world's best trained mouse? Following orders does take significant amount of brain function such as memorization and self control, but I thought the word 'smart' indicates something to be sharp witted and intelligent. Meaning that the subject is making good judgement on its own.

The video shown above showcases a mouse going through a set course, which indicates it is exercising memorization and motivation by its own will. But it does not reveal cognitive judgement by the mouse, therefore, failing to showcase intelligence, aka, Smarts.

^ 'Cognitive ability' is the phrase you were looking for, I think. And you're right, of course, that this presentation, impressive though it may be, is not a demonstration of said ability.

omg! you're all on the wrong track. The mouse is smart in the sense that he looks smart! his whiskers are extremely well groomed and his fur is very uniform in length! It's rare to see a mouse as smartly outfitted as this one. deshevelled dogs are no match for this smart mouse. this mouse is the smartest mouse evar.
