how NOT to cut down a tall tree

obscenesimiansays...

Not darwin worthy. This guy is topping the tree, probably in a residential area, where he has to take the tree down a little bit at a time. He intended for the cut portion to remain tied to the main trunk. There was a little too much rope in his line, and he took too big a piece off the top. No Darwin candidate, just not a real good arborist.

Not really ever in danger. He had a pulley at his feet tied to the top part which was falling. The idiot on the ground let off way to much slack and then tied it off, so the whole trunk shook.

If you look the guy had like four different tie off to his harness, he might have knocked himself off, but not in danger of falling.

looked to me that he was being wildly swung around at top, flipping off his hat and pulling hard away from his tie-ins, and that any more momentum and the falling piece could have broken the top where it was hooked... and hey, maybe it would have come down on the guy below who allowed too much slack. would that have made you guys happy! you're sick!

nah definately a good arborist, it's just the asshat on the ground who f-d it up..
it's definately a residential area so that means they'll tie off the parts that drop to control their fall..
what obscenesimian said about the line..
