Zero Punctuation: Uncharted 2 Among Thieves

^was a bit boring for the funnies, but it was spot on as a game review.

I played a bit, and enjoyed it as a cinematic experience.

You DO run around shaped rooms jamming JUMP/USE to try and find the next ledge/switch. And you definately does have the sticky terrain problem which really does fling you out infront of enemys.
Afte 15 minutes my enjoyment factor was in negative territory.

My mate tells me its awesome later on, but...I dunno. I think my standards for controls are set at PC game, and I cant settle for console controls.

I wonder if he even finished it? I wish he commented on the gun-fights.

^ I completed it in 2 days, of continuous play, about 20 hours, and being hard on myself, I'd say between 8 and 10 of that was spent doing the same bits over and over.

As for the gun fights, with as many as they make you endure (for a platformer) they really should give you a better aiming system, it can be really frustrating when you have to empty a clip to drop someone standing 20 feet from you.

My only other complaint is with the several sections where you have to run towards the camera trying to either dodge bullets or outrun the collapse of what you are running on, while having to hurdle obstacles that you can't see until you're already stuck on them.

All in all I really enjoy the Uncharted series. They could have more adventuring and puzzle solving and less gun play, but hey that's just me.

Can't comment on Uncharted 2, but I enjoyed the "while waiting for something that matters" (= Dragon Age) line.

I've been playing that for a few days and while it definitely isn't revolutionarily new, I think it does an excellent job of being a modern take on Baldur's Gate. Which suits me just fine!

Meh.

I know it's his style but I've never really been offended by Yahtzee before, largely because I agreed. This time I have to sternly disagree. Uncharted 2 is the best game I've played in many many years, sure it doesn't bring a lot of new concepts to gaming but what it does do, it does so well, that it could almost be called revolutionary against the tidal wave of shit we otherwise receive.

And I don't think it's particular easy for games to look this good, the amount of detail in Uncharted 2 is staggering and it has some of the best animation and voice acting I've ever seen hands down, never noticed his bug eye comment, I thought the characters showed a tonne of emotion. What are essentially fully playable cinematics are also both technically and graphically amazing, the set pieces in Uncharted 2 are like nothing I've seen in any game. I did not want to put this game down at any point, it is entirely engaging start to finish and for me, I LOVE the fact that it bases its story on ancient legends, that's one of the best parts!

It is sad world when MW2 sells 5million in one day and UC2 hits 1million in a month. Again we've shown how little we actually care about the quality of our games and again we give a strong signal to what same old crap big companies should shovel at us. MW6 anyone? Personally I wish gaming never went so mainstream, it did more harm than good.

So what you're saying is that the game has good graphics and plays well, which is no different from what Yahtzee says. Some people expect more from a "great" game than good looks and technical excellence. You know, something like originality. And it's hypocritical that you diss on MW2, which is also filled with graphical and technical excellence, just not in your preferred style.
