ChaosEnginesays...Never got the hype around GoldenEye.
Played it on a friends N64 and it felt like an ok FPS, but wasn't really that memorable. Is it just because it was the first decent console FPS?
antsays...Yes, and vibrating controllers. I wasn't a console fan back then. I only owned Atari 2600 and borrowed a Turbo Graphx 16 for a week.

TheGenksays...This video seems biased, but I don't know that much about consoles.
(The only console I own is a Sega Master System 1 )
littlewoodenboysays...I would say that it's popularity was based on the multiplayer. It was one of the first FPS games that had four player split screen multiplayer. For console players, there was nothing like it at the time. For a lot of people it was a system seller. I had friends who hardly ever played the single player, I never finished it. I was a hardcore PC player, but I owned a N64 for Goldeneye and The Ocarina of Time.

antsays...Its split screens bug me, but then this was a console connected to TV.
