Woman: Obama Guilty of Treason; Romney: Silence

Even McCain put the kabosh on the deluded extremists in his party.

ProTip: we'd pay attention if you weren't literally just making this stuff up. We get it, you like republicans more than democrats. You want your guy in the oval office and the democrats want their guy in.

But the whole "The other guy is the devil/like hitler/committing treason/hiding a vast conspiracy" just gets a little old ok? This myth that the other guy is a mustache twirling villain that has a damsel in distress tied to the train tracks is just a tad bit absurd isn't it? We know the news loves it's drama and will amplify anything that is the least bit ratings worthy, but really? Treason? with nothing to back it up? Try harder ok?

There is a whole TWO other branches of government out there responsible for the shit we're in. Yet all the attention goes to the president. If you had actual evidence instead of just slinging accusations around to see what sticks, but you don't. The only thing you're slinging is mud. The worst accusation that the left came up with against Bush was the false justification of the Iraq War. But hey, there's actual evidence to back that up

Take a step back please

There is no room in government for Democrats or Republicans. Only those who obey the principles of the constitution. They do take an oath to obey and uphold the constitution but then quickly do as they want for self political gain.

I would say that less then 10% of elected officials truly desire to follow the oath they take.

Who is to blame, the elected officials or are they just the reflection of society?

The constitution is a piece of crap paper that doesn't mean anything. We're a race of highly evolved monkeys clinging to a rock that's hurtling through space and dying. Fuck off with your stupid piece of shit paper and die already.

You dumb ass piece of shit. You typify the losers who are ruining this country. The constitution is what this country is founded on. It is the most document this country has. Its what separates us from dictatorships and other evil forms of governments. How stupid can you be?

Just because our leaders have wiped their asses with it does not make it less important. The words in the document are powerful. Did you ever read it? Or are you some flunky useless member of society?

Once again, Bob demonstrates that he just doesn't get it...and commits another ad hom at the same time.

There is this wonderful thing called nuance. There's nothing wrong with the argument that the Constitution is a remarkable document. It was pretty freakin ground breaking for the time and still holds up on many issues even today.

But it is, still, just a document. You're kinda painting yourself into a corner when you attempt to elevate something like the Constitution or, say, the Bible to a...divine level.

Dictatorships are actually quite efficient government. Conservatives claim to love efficient government so you really shouldn't be so quick to poo poo on dictatorships. Of course, the problem with dictatorships is you can't always trust the dictator to do what you think is right. Nor is there a very good mechanism of change in dictatorships, short of changing dictators, but that usually tends to be fairly bloody.

Fortunately, the founders were smart enough to put in a mechanism that allows it to be changed. As history has shown, even the Constitution, like the Bible, got one of the simplest moral questions WRONG. Both the Constitution and the Bible are flat out wrong when it comes to the equality of its citizens. Fortunately, humans have this wonderful capability of learning things and....evolving (gasp). Even if the founders weren't smart enough to put in such a mechanism for change, guess what, change would still eventually happen, it just would have been bloodier. Hell, we STILL had a Civil War that killed a lot of people even though we had a mechanism to peacefully change our gov't. So again, the constitution means absolutely dick when enough people agree that it means absolutely dick.

Gov't back then, used to have the ability to revoke a business charter on a whim, aren't you pro-corporation types glad the Constitution isn't a static document?

I thought so.

Nuance is a wonderful thing, makes you actually think for yourself instead of blindly stumbling around, pretending that some dated document is divine, regardless of how well written it may be. Change is a bitch.

Shut up Bob was right and you are a bastard.

Are you familiar with the concept that the world belongs to the living and not the dead? Sure, the US Constitution has some good stuff in it, built upon the collective reason of several previous centuries' of legal thought.

What I'm trying to figure out is why anyone would think that there hasn't been any rational thought on the subject in the last two centuries.

Yogi is right - the Constitution is no more sacred than the paper I wipe my ass with. It certainly holds no magic that renders it invulnerable to time. It is a document written for people living in the 18th century. This is not unlike the Old Testament being largely obviated by the New Testament. The Ten Commandments are meaningless in the face of Christ's sacrifice. The same is true of the laws of man. Yeah, much of what they were saying still makes sense in a narrowly defined way, but ultimately, those laws are useless in our current context.
