Spacedog79says...To do this on anything like the scale we'd need would be a monumental task and you'd have to replace all of it every 10 years. Next generation nuclear is the only way we can produce enough clean and reliable power to run civilised society.
newtboysays...Nice to finally hear pumped hydro mentioned when discussing energy storage.
Sure, it takes space, but it's non toxic, proven, doesn't bleed off like compressed air, and doesn't wear out every 10 years. Chemical batteries should be just for quick load shifts with hydro used for the majority of energy storage, imo.
