Hertha Berlin defender Peter Niemeyer has apologised after accidentally patting female referee Bibiana Steinhaus' left breast during a match.

TV pictures of Hertha's 0-0 draw with Alemania Aachen saw him brushing debut official Steinhaus on the chest - and both of them dissolving into laughter.

Niemeyer said: "She was standing a bit further away than I thought - I meant to give her a pat on the back. But you do have to entertain the fans a bit too."
