When the cops come knocking don't open your door!

burdturglersays...

Ok ... the woman is a bit off her rocker but bail enforcement officers don't require a warrant and have the power to use the police for the purpose of searching your home?

"I have a bench warrant."
"I don't actually need a warrant"

This is some fucked up shit.

Something more than just "a bit off her rocker"...because the first thing I do when someone knocks on my door is grab a video camera. Something doesn't smell right, and not all the problems on are the side of the cops.

I did get a real kick out of the comments on the TV station's site. Virtually all of them were more or less illiterate. To judge by those, Kern county is a veritable hotbed of stupidity and ignorance, on -both- sides of this dispute.

Read the story he posted along with it. It seems to make a bit more sense. And maybe she is "off her rocker" but if what she is claiming is true and what this Alan dude is claiming is true, they've got a mighty problem on their fingers.>> ^Stormsinger:

Excuse me? Do you really think I read the comments on the story without actually reading the story?

Nothing I said here implied the cops were without fault. I simply don't think it's as one-sided as this video tries to make you think...which really shouldn't be a big surprise, IMO. The vast majority of these "expose" videos are not unbiased (and many are not unprovoked), after all. That doesn't mean the cops were right, but neither does it mean the videographer is right. There doesn't -have- to be an innocent party here.

What the fuck is wrong with idiots claiming there is some more to the story.

The sheriffs were helping some bailbondsman trying to get his money back by returning someone to court for the bail. This is a commercial enterprise they are taking place in for no reason. It's the reason why there are bailbonds, to create financial incentive to someone to show up in court. Sheriffs should never enter a home without a clear warrant on what they are in search of. I have no problem with a bailbondsman following his own federal and state laws to collect a bail bond, but there should never be public servants used.

The county should be sued the fuck out of for helping out some idiot commercial enterprise.

One of these cops is unlawfully standing in that womans house, getting mad at her for telling him that what they are doing is wrong. He acts like a schoolyard bully, "Back away from me" over and over. He tries to intimidate her cause thats all this fatass knows. His own fatfuck partner comes back and tells him to leave.
I think that this one part of the video is the most telling, sickning part. That cop was escalating the situation, as many cops do, the next step would be physical. This prick just got stopped by his partners, a camera, and the fact that they couldnt find anything illegal. When will public servants, sworn to ptotect us, realize the people are getting very tired of their heavy handed and illegal bullshit?

It's all work until someone doesn't go home, because they were stupid.

Stormsinger, they were not knocking on the door. They were banging on the door with, what sounded like a baton. When someone bangs on the door to my house, not using the doorbell, I generally feel as through something is wrong. The covenant on my house states I only need to answer the door when someone rings the doorbell.

The last time I opened the door for a Police officer, not Sheriff, I stated clearly; "What's the nature of your business here?" I called the cops to talk about a suspicious vehicle parked near the intersection, and I still asked her that way. This cop was wearing her tactical vest, tazer, extra magazine pouches, leg holstered side arm. Did I mention she was left handed? That is not something you see every day. In-fact she looked like a QRU officer, which is called a quick response unit; very popular after the bank robbery in LA. Also known as QRT, quick response team.

Moral of the story is, you should always tape or record any conversation you have with a police officer. Know your states laws. Always inform he officer that they are being video and or voice recorded for legal purposes.

Alas, if you have a warrant for your arrest do not skip out on it. That will cause the people who support you more trouble then they need.

I don't know that she is crazy per-say, having cops around telling you what to do and be completely rational is hard as crap. I might say some crazy stuff like "Im not under federal law, I'm sovereign"...ok well maybe not that exactly, but I might say something like I like to wear woman's panties or something equally crazy and irrelevant. Dealing with people with guns whom are using force is scary...really scary.

It's funny, but I've had a lot of dealings with cops over the years, both when I was in trouble, and when I needed help. And not once have I ever had a cop treat me badly. Maybe I just happened to live in (or visit) the one...no, two...no, three places left where cops are still the good guys...or maybe it's all about attitude. In many cases, you get back just what you give out.

If you want to be an ass, or play rules-lawyer to a cop, I personally would expect him to be somewhat less than pleasant in return. That's just human nature.

So, This lady has a poor attitude towards the police?
If she just would have put her hands up and shut up then this whole thing would have been more pleasant? The cops would have been nicer, hell, they probably would stand around making jokes, cause they are just great guys , as long as you do what the fuck your told.
There is nothing cops hate more than somone who knows their rights, 'cept maybe someone who wants to be treated with respect even though they don't posess a badge.
All joking aside, There is nothing wrong with knowing youur rights, and expecting those rights to be upheld, especialy by those sworn to uphold them.

Well good cops make bad, uninteresting videos. Just because you've had a few good cops doesn't mean they're all good.

But I agree, for the most part they are good and most of the trouble comes when it is their job to enforce the laws of a flawed system. People get angry at the messenger because it's the personification of a big, scary, confusing institution that nobody really trusts.>> ^Stormsinger:

What they did was NOT ok. I really don't give a shit what the camera operator might have done wrong. They cannot enter a property without a warrant, and a bench warrant does NOT give them the right to forgo a specific warrant for that property. It is the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution, and it is damned important!

I am not a right wing wacko by any stretch of the imagination, but when I see somebody flagrantly violating the Constitution, I get pissed. And you should too.

I hope these assholes lose their jobs and face serious sanctions. The police are meant to uphold the law, not ignore it.
