Mordhaussays...The thing that is funniest to me is that the type of songs he talks about bringing back, other than the ballad of oj from a long time hip hop master, the song with the most true meaning came from a comedian/actor. This is America is the type of old school hip hop/rap song with meaning from the old days and it blew up, so the audience is there. Now we just need the 'disco' mumble rap people to change directions and get involved.

C-notesays...Anything positive done by a black man in america becomes a threat to the established precedent and will be put down. The state of "hip hop" reflects the system it operates within.

lurgeesays...What the fuck happened to hip-hop? Dr Dre dropped The Cronic and it has been illin' ever since then. I have been complaining for over 2 decades that pop hip-hop is so stale. Trap music makes me want to gag with it's materialistic lyrics. That musical genre needs more OutKast.

My_designsays...This just sent me down a rabbit hole of Lil Dicky videos.
newtboysays...Too much drug use in hip hop....we need more Kendrick?
Um.....swimming pool.
I love his music, but he's not exactly a positive roll model when it comes to responsible drug/alcohol use.
spawnflaggersays...'90s was the best decade of hip hop, IMHO...
Blackalicious is probably the most recent band that I still listen to.
I posted this song of theirs to share:

When you look up to those you admire you emulate them to some extent.
