Farhad2000says...I watched this movie more times then I care to remember...
theoneinsidersays...This looks like the same kind of live-action distortion used in A Scanner Darkly.
Farhad2000says...It is, Richard Linklater directed both films... This was his earlier work...
bamdrewsays...i watched this movie once, and was maybe a bit overwhelmed. i was thinking too much, and nobody around me wanted to hear my rebuttals.
i read a fantastic conversation in SEED magazine between Michel Gondry and a sleep/dream research at Harvard. one point the researcher brought up was that dreams tend to lack the temporal information of our lives and our stories when we're awake.
"i was eating a sandwhich and then my friend came in and we watched tv, then we went outside and drove to the park, then..." this is a conscious story you might tell---- but instead dreams wander between somehow related memories, like "i was eating a sandwhich but the bread was moldy, and i was at school, and the walls were all worn and tattered, and there was a war going on and the area was being bombed, so i ran and ran through the building and then i slipped in some blood and michel gondry was there laughing at me..."
