Roommate used to eat durian about once a week -- made the apartment stink for about 6 days -- just in time for the next durian.

I'm a fan of Billy Holiday, so I'll say I would have also enjoyed the title "Strange Fruit"

I've had an exotic fruit that was green, slimy and seeded (like a cucumber) on the inside, but I can't remember what it's called. Anyone know? It's starting to bug me now...

EDIT: It's the Kiwano melon. And it's delicious, imo.

mix it up w/ asparagus and you get the most toxic substance a human can produce. it even dissolves solid gold(i know from personal expeerience)

Durian is interesting, sweet mixed with onion. I had it a few times in the Philippines and was acquiring a taste for it. Philippine mangoes (like the one in the video) are awesome too, much better than the red and green skinned kind.

I like the story that the Yippie Paul Krassner tells of the time he dropped acid with Groucho Marx. About an hour after taking his dose, the elderly comedian called his personal assistant, instructing him/her to bring to the mansion every sort of exotic fruit he could find.

I see what you did there.

The guy doesn't know how to open durian properly. There's one particular spot on the outer layer that if you make a small incision with a knife, the durian can then be opened up by hand, exposing all the fruits without having knives ruining them. I'm pretty sure that spot is also the first place to go bad on a durian that's not properly stored.
