I never saw it in the theater, but I saw on TV back in the late 1980s/80s or maybe 1990s partially. But I rewatched the whole thing a few years ago. Way better than Michael Bay's real-life movie!

That planet destruction thing at the start is terrifying too. You'd never get that in a kid's movie these days.

Starring the voice of the late Orson Welles as Unicron. When you get to work with people at that level, everybody's game gets better.

I anticipated this movie so much, and being a die hard transformers fan, every day of waiting was agony. When I finally saw it in the theater, I was totally blown away by how good it was. Even though some of my favorite characters died, it was my favorite movie experience as a kid. It made such an impression on me that whenever I saw the De Laurentiis logo I got excited..hehe.

Wow, I missed a lot in 2005.

Never understood why robots had mustaches.

BTW- when the drums of the theme started playing at 2:33, am I the only one that started singing "OH MICKY YER SO FINE YER SO FINE YOU BLOW MY MIND---HEY MICKY!"

Same people did the same thing when Data did the exact same thing in ST:Generations.

There's something about Unicron that makes him one of my most memorable villains

I saw this in theaters as well. I remember the day as I burned my hand on the stove and had to wear an ice pack to the movies. I would have been 6 or 7. I remember crying when Optimus died as well.

However, just watching the intro, holy shit there were some huge names in this. I knew Orson Wells was, but didn't know the other half dozen more that showed. Judd Nelson, Eric Idle, Leonard Nimoy, etc.

Why did both Data and the Autobots build robot children? That doesn't make any sense at all... it's not like they're going to grow up into adult robots!

Is it just me or is the Bay Transformers movie really fun? I've watched it twice now and it's perfectly executed and paced entertainment.

Admittedly I don't know much (or care) about Transformers but I did like the film. Heard the second one isn't so good.

And an amazing soundtrack. I own this movie, but I will NEVER own the live action Michael Bay bullshit. He can make his money off of less discerning consumers.
