For the uninitiated

I remember when the Video Toaster and other then-new realtime digital systems were being demoed this was one of those "Wow!" things you could show off with.

As you go from top to bottom each line is delayed slightly from the previous line, that's it.

I get this right you: you delay every row of pixels by one frame so that 1st row gets played in the first frame, 2nd row in the next and so on. The video starts with what seems to be a swipe from top to bottom but actually first frame is black and you can see how the rows fill up from the top to the second frame which has the picture.

Clever.
