Of wenches and bawdyhouse queens by the score
But I sing of a baggage that we all adore
The landlord's daughter."

OH GOD! OH JESUS CHRIST!
michiesays...A true horror classic. Certain films should never be remade. This is one of them.
benjeesays...I second that Michie, along with The Italian Job - it's a travesty.
NickyPsays...You wouldn't remake pulp fiction in Milton Keynes now would you
Farhad2000says...There is so much to love about the original version of the movie, for me it was always the soundtrack of pagan music. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wicker_Man_%281973_film%29#Soundtrack
What the new version totally gets wrong is the religious aspect of it, the original film left you feeling tormented inside as the people portrayed really believed their practices and their ways, it was hard to knock something that seemed for them to work out perfectly fine, it unsettled you and left one questioning about the power of collective belief in something leading further into an analysis of religon as a whole, it's benefits and disadvantages. The new film totally lost that by portraying the villagers as being deranged or possessed by some evil... stupid Hollywood.
Utter vomit, exactly like they did with remaking the Omen... Was that really necessary? Was the last movie that well made originally you had to remake it into a piece of shit?
There is simply no justice in the world.
wildmanBillsays...Farhad:
My problem with the new Wicker Man was that no one involved in the making of it seemed to care. All the actors were phoning it in (worst performances ever by Cage and Burstyn) the hair and makeup made these people on this isolated island look like shoppers from Manhattan's upper east side. And the set design had a nice plastic look to it. It's as if a lot of people in the cast and crew got excited about remaking the Wickers Man but by the time they figured out it wasn't such a good idea they were too invested in it to pull out and just went through the motions the rest of the way.
