The Troubles: First televised debate with Gerry Adams

Arguably the best televised political debate of the 1990s in Ireland.

Gerry Adams (Sinn Fein), alleged senior figure in the P.I.R.A., debates against a hostile host and panel on the RTE programme "The Late Late Show" shortly after the first IRA ceasefire in 1994.

Its clear why the Irish and British governments didnt want Sinn Fein to be allowed to be broadcast. A decision that in my opinion prolonged violence by preventing an informed public debate.
