You can't tell us, ants, what to do!

Neither. A majority doesn't prove or disprove the quality of a position on any particular argument.

That was my point. All is simply opinion, and opinion will differ depending on your stance on any given subject. Of course some opinions are more valid than others, but that's just my opinion..;)
ponceleonsays...The problem is a bit more complex than this. Our society has cultivated a lower class which loves to complain but is far too distracted with their xboxes, mcdonalds, nascars, and other drivel to really band together in a cohesive way. Only through education can the ants rise up and effect REAL change. Having a leader (of whatever party) get up there and spout platitudes about "change" or "values" or whatever other bullshit our politicians are trying to sell us isn't going to really change anything. As long as the lowest common denominator of greed on both a high and low scale drives our motives, we aren't going to really move forward.
If the democrats, the republicans or the extremists on both sides want to really change anything, invest in education. Period. Then this obese lazy country will get off their couches and out of the buffet line and start thinking about what really needs to happen in this country to take us to the next level.
JiggaJonsonsays...@ponceleon
Yeah the problem with that is the budget for education keeps getting cut more and more every year.
Take my state for example. Our governor, in all of his wisdom, decided to cut another $300 MILLION dollars from k-12 spending. You know, b/c so many teachers and administrators are driving around Porches.
The reality is that most teachers spend a good hunk of their own money buying supplies. When's the last time the military had to have a bake sale to buy a tank? And speaking of which, did you hear about the equipment they're leaving behind in Iraq?
And you're probably saying "Well times are tough, everyone needs cuts, etc." But at the end of the fiscal year of 2010, after some time to look at the books, Indiana ended up with a $1.2 billion dollar surplus. "OH AWESOME I DON'T HAVE TO BUY MY OWN MARKERS ANYMORE!" -Random Teacher.
Hold on there Random Teacher who thinks he's going to have to stop buying his own supplies. That money did NOT get returned to the social services from which it was cut. Instead, 24,000 state workers got a bonus check with that money to, you know, buy more Xboxes and McDonalds and such.
It's a sad fucking state of affairs and people are not going to start valuing education until we stop idiotic policies like this.
JiggaJonsonsays...Love this quote from my last link above btw:
"He created a billion-dollar surplus by bankrupting Hoosiers and our schools, fire and police departments, and health care programs," Bauer said.
That pretty much sums it up.

That is correct! Money is the only measure of the quality of your position.
vaire2ubesays...and now, The second amendment applies only to beer drinkers and RX medication users.
Its good to know the govt is protecting me from myself by protecting themselves from me. Very curious.

ravermansays...The problem is Inequality. But the solution must be reform, not Revolution.
Revolution tears down everything that is. It does not build something new. It leaves chaos and power struggle and disorganisation.
If the ants destroyed their nest and all the food in protest - then nothing is solved and everyone suffers.
We see the Few as protecting their greed... but they see it as preventing the chaos.
vaire2ubesays...well duh they're delusional.. since none of it matters anyway (in the sense we all die), "they" just want to enjoy the best of a shared reality... its insane to think there is any motive but greed and paranoia leading to these conditions... all i need to enjoy life is knowing people around me have enough... maybe im crazy but i dont think thats crazy...

I've seen ants. They keep in line fine just by themselves. Just like sheeple.
