Woah, brilliant. I'm sure some bleeding heart will say "oh sure, threaten them, that'll help", but i can't think of a better way to break it up, make them feel stupid and then go on to teach them a 1-sentence all encompassing lesson about life.

Technical term for the short affirmation after the fight was diffused is called a "teachable moment."

Very difficult to muster up in the moment but it gets much easier to make good use of said moments with experience.
