ChaosEnginesays...As far as I know, tattoos are still very much taboo in Japan. They are very much associated with the yakuza. There's a growing trend for what's called "fashion tattoos", but nothing like this.
If you're a westerner and you go to Japan with a tattoo, you need to cover it up to use a public bath.
It's a shame because the yakuza style tattoos are really beautiful, even if they have an ugly history.
