TYT - 2010 Post Election Rant

Cenk sums up his feelings following the 2010 Congressional election.

WE did the right thing, we got dems in power in all three branches. They failed us miserably.

Wonder why voter turn out for young people and dems was so low? Because we don't give a shit anymore. Our only hope for real change is to let the idiots have the helm and, this time, drive us into a recession that we can't bail out of. One that causes our complete collapse and results in state secession.

You want God in your government Alabama/Louisiana/Mississippi etc? Make your own constitution. I will fully support you.

I will be in the Peoples Republic of Pennsylvania, (hopefully).

Yeah, what's a good counterpart to the Teabag Party
The Shocker Party?
The Dutch Oven Party?

Have you ever considered that the ideology of the left is itself a failure? California is bankrupt and the fools there just reelected the same-same, once again illustrating the definition of insanity. Extremely liberal California is sinking while not-liberal Texas is thriving (it's where companies are moving when they flee CA).

I'm all for secession. This federal mafia is too big and too corrupt. Let liberal politicos pay off their constituents with the blood of some other host besides taxpayers in other states.

This is why we can't have nice things. Stop blaming Nader when the Democrats simply didn't get the job done. Dems have a fine record of losing all on their own. No need to blame Nader.

This is why I'm independent. Our choices are a bunch of assholes..or a bunch of pussies. Both are in bed with corps. Dems can be just as deluded as Reps

Uhm..you can make that argument on both sides of the aisle, dumbass. Lots of places are bankrupt and yet they continue to not make changes. Insanity knows no distinction between party.

Fuck the party system. It's like religion--it lets lazy people have the decisions made for them. It promotes ignorance and stupidity. Parties are a terrible idea. It should be about the individual and about the individual issues, not red vs blue.

The ideology of the left in the USA is a failure because, by and large, the politicos who are supposed to espouse that ideology are corrupted by the lure of money...

Says more about the US than it does about the left, there are plenty of leftward leaning governments around the world that function quite well. Just because US culture (as opposed to individual people) isn't capable of wrapping it's head around a more liberal ideology without fucking it up doesn't mean the ideology is flawed...

But hey, stick with the current right wing way of doing things, I'm sure when the US causes the next GFC you'll just find someone or something else to blame... ; )

The trouble with getting rid of the parties is that for the republicans, that was what the Tea Party was all about. They hated the Democrats and were completely sick of the Republicans and wanted to change things, to bring in their own candidates that they thought would change things. But while this 'movement' is just a new face on an old idea that pops up once in a while, it once again was completely subsumed by the republican party who saw an advantage with conservative-leaning Tea Party people and bought that group out from under themselves. By the end the Tea Party is a disjointed, bickering and small group of Americans with zero agreed upon agendas. People like Karl Rove saw the opportunity and went with it. If the Tea Party thinks thy changed an ounce of anything they are completely mistaken and we'll find that out as time goes on.

The Party system certainly seems broken but if we could just get the money out of politics (and damn you surpreme court for taking a huge problem and making it that much larger) things might actually change. The two party system could absolutely use a large change but as long as there is as much money in politics as there are today, it never will.

PHJFsays...

The two-party system is FUNDAMENTALLY flawed. There ARE NO real-life problems wherein there exist only TWO, diametrically opposed answers. Somebody ought to just drop a firebomb on the Capitol and let us start over.

Is that what happened in the soviet union? The lure of money corrupted "The Dream?"

Says more about the US than it does about the left, there are plenty of leftward leaning governments around the world that function quite well.

Not as well as they claim. When the State is made the undisputed arbiter of all, the individual is fuct.

Just because US culture (as opposed to individual people) isn't capable of wrapping it's head around a more liberal ideology without fucking it up doesn't mean the ideology is flawed...

There are elements of leftist ideology that work, but like perpetual motion machines, they don't quite work overall. "Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money."

But hey, stick with the current right wing way of doing things, I'm sure when the US causes the next GFC you'll just find someone or something else to blame... ; )

Peace. Or should I say, GREECE.

He was why bush got a first term, too.

We need a constitutional amendment for:

1. Instant runoff voting in presidential elections
2. Congressional representation proportional to the nationwide popular vote for a party (this reduces the incentive for local pork barrel bullshit)

Nonono. The American Meadow Party.

Been rereading Bloom County, and it seems that nothing much has changed in american politics in the past 30 years.
