Star Wars Tatooine locations today

Evidently, the sets built for the original Star Wars famed Tatooine location were simply abandoned.
Beautiful to look at, impressive in how well they've held up and are instantly recognizable; these well-built shelters appear to have attracted quite an interesting slice of Tunisian culture to move on in. I'm sure there must be a great story that went into their design and build.

Really surprised that 1) they've held up so well and 2) they haven't been vandalized more. I'm sure some SW fan would love to have that moisture vaporator in his house.

Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman visited these things on Long Way Down. Even had tea with a family that lived in one of the underground places. None of the people visiting the place recognized Ewan, which is hilarious to me.
