Wednesday, September 12, 2012, crews removed the Space Spiral to make way for our record-breaking winged coaster, GateKeeper, set to open in May 2013! Space Spiral has been giving guests great memories since 1965 - we're sad to see it go, but are excited for the future!The demolition was handled by an expert third-party contractor. Workers calculated precisely where the tower would land, and dug a large hole into the fall zone to cushion the impact of the cabin area. Everything was executed safely and according to plan.
