Sony "X-Ray" infrared camera video of farting

I've got one of these old unmodified Sony infrared cameras, this use has never occurred to me.

That second one looks positively frightening.

I'm skeptical. Farts are gas and you usually don't see gases on an infrared camera because they are transparent to infrared just as other light. And why is it black? I think somebody just blew smoke.
