Look at crocodiles; an apex predator without comparison or competition in its own environment. With very few selective pressures, there's also very little change in such species, even over huge amounts of time. See also Nautilus, Coelacanth, Japanese Spider Crab, etc.

It's sad that these days it is expected for species of animals to wipe out so fast we're actually amazed how this bugger is still around.
