Sagemindsays...I agree with this 100%.
In fact, Not only do I ignore Facebook video as best as I can, I block any site that uses Youtube videos as their source of content so they can blast me with ads!
brycewi19says...*promote
siftbotsays...Self promoting this video and sending it back into the queue for one more try; last queued Tuesday, January 27th, 2015 6:49pm PST - promote requested by original submitter brycewi19.
ChaosEnginesays...Great video, but please don't buy Enders Game.
Yeah, it's a good book, but Orson Scott Card is a colossal dickhead and doesn't deserve your money. Go read it in a library.
deedub81says...*quality
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by deedub81.
articiansays...We SO need more intelligent people pointing out the screwball fuckery that is today's modern economy. This video made my day.
The only thing that separates the sift from this kind of activity is the community, and that the creators actively participate, and thus convey a sense of humanity, unlike faceless corporate machines.
(Now if only they could work out this bullshit permissions access/limits).
MaxWildersays...Does every single infringement require a long lawsuit? Sounds like somebody needs to get flooded with lawsuits until they change their policy and simply pay the verified copyright holder.
Mammaltronsays...The only problem with "freebooting" is it's a euphamism.
This seems more like commercial piracy.
nanrodsays...I wonder how much of this kind of profiteering is done by the same corporations that go after people for downloading movies.
notarobotsays...I hope he's able to sue them for lost revenue.
Reefiesays...In all fairness you get to listen to the book for free by signing up using his referral link

00Scud00says...One more reason why downloading media doesn't bother me too much, despite all the protestations of the big media conglomerates, if put in a similar position they would do it to you in a heartbeat. In some ways my feelings for these companies is kind of like Marv's feelings about hitmen, "No matter what you do to em, you don't feel bad".
ChaosEnginesays...That's an exception rather than a rule IMO. As a general rule, people who work on movies, games, music, etc deserve to be compensated for their work.
I just wish certain sections of the media (movies, tv) didn't make it so damn hard to buy their stuff.

antonyejokingly says......like videosift?
I agree with this 100%.

MilkmanDansays......Meh. I understand why that sucks, but I'm still going to:
1) Run Adblock Plus on everything, with element hiding helpers for other annoying shit like "hey, we noticed you are running adblock! please don't!"
2) Entirely avoid Facebook, not for any political or philosophical reasons, but because I have no interest in it
3) Be generally dismayed at how much power and economic influence the entire concept of advertising has in modern culture
FlowersInHisHairsays...I have adblock enabled on Facebook but disabled on YouTube, hopefully that helps? Or is that naive?
Babymechsays...I like how this portrays Youtube as an invisible, naturally occurring resource for the people, when it actually, like Facebook, is just a megacorporation that has profited immensely from copyright infringement, or whatever euphemism you want to slap on it.
speechlesssays...Except Facebook doesn't pay you for your views, and YouTube does.

MrFisksays...Now post this video on Facebook.
spawnflaggersays...class action lawsuit from all youtube channel owners who have ever had anything stolen and re-uploaded to facebook...
Some kind of settlement large enough to make facebook implement some copyright checking technology, or at least pay victims similar rates that Google pays for legit views on youtube.
I hope he's able to sue them for lost revenue.
billybusseysays...Wow, you guys at videosift are not nearly as smart as I thought.
Videos are flashing lights. They are not meat. You deserve no money for it. Advertising cannot be compared to food.
You are all focusing on the wrong shit by far.
I've made flashing lights for money my whole career. They do not have value. They are worthless.
Please start arguing the deeper points or I'm not coming to this site anymore.
newtboysays...Please return all the money you made during your career...your work product is not meat, so has no value and is worthless, so you are a thief for taking money for it. You may send the check directly to the sift and I'm sure Dag will give me my cut for making the suggestion.
Thank you
As an aside...I must guess you won't be coming back to the sift, because our chosen topics of discussion are not always up to your standards (which must be quite low, you made a career out of creating worthless, valueless flashing lights...so....)
...so good bye. ;-)
