According to that vid, it's the hertz of the sound that is important--the range between 6000~8000 hertz is similar to the sounds the baby heard inside the womb and therefore has a calming effect.

My own experience as a new parent, though, is that any loud sound will do. Our six-month old hates getting her diaper changed and cries whenever we put her down to do so. We found out that by repeatedly making any sort of loud sound (clapping hands, ringing a bell, stomping on the floor, etc.) we can keep her from freaking out long enough to get the diaper changed. She seems to be too distracted trying to figure out where the sound is coming from to notice the diaper change. But if we stop making the sound in the middle of the diaper change, all bets are off.

You might be right. I couldn't understand anything from the video; the one thing I took from it was that Japanese people love to write big characters on their screens. TV must be horrible in Japan.
