This is a single take steadicam shot during a photographic workshop at the Elk's Tower in Sacramento. The workshop put on by Mark Behrens and Lookpw titled "Gun's Gut's and Glory" featured 22 photographers and 20 models. This shot actually came together completely unplanned, when most of the photographers and models had gathered into one room. It started out as a "wouldn't it be cool" and turned into an "alright everybody, listen up" in about 30 seconds. This shot stands completely uncut and is a good example of "speed ramping" for maximum effect.
It took us about 5 minutes to bring everyone up to speed, place people around the room, and figure out a rough path. The original shot is a little over two minutes long. It's obviously really hard to get 40 people to hold still for that long, so a lot of the sped up sections hide some of the movement. The other sped up and slowed down parts were just to emphasize it's epic awesomeness. Thanks to everyone who made this possible! -Vimeo

hpqpsays...It's a pity the background music is so lame. If you want to feel like you're walking in the frozen scene of someone else's dream, mute the vimeo vid and play this one instead (start it before the starting the vimeo). It was the first to come to mind, and amazingly fits to a T!

The music you linked to was cool, but I like the song in the original vid. This is probably because I am getting too old and it reminds me of playing pinball with a bunch of people back in the 90's that are now closed or burned down. (The arcades, not the people.)
NicoleBeesays...Well, I guess if there are two groups of people ideal to ask to stay very still for very long, its models and photographers. Turned out great!

The guns are props, the idea is to be able to take a picture from an angle you normally would not be in or want to be in if the gun was real. Or in this case to take a shot for a video of a fake photo shoot.
