would be a dumb place for a sand bar (on a launching ramp) -- looks like the rudder is fully turned, and as it goes in, it all goes pear shaped.

Only when they're being launched sideways off a drydock, I would think.

It's too tall and narrow, obviously.

The sister ship of one I worked on did this at launch.
The rumor was that it was because of a misplaced decimal point.
They had to add giant metal "pontoons" filled with cement to the hull in order to add ballast
... not very efficient.
