daphnesays...What a great sift. When actor Will Lee died, this show didn't take the easy way out. They met it with grace and respect.
That's why this show is one of the best ever produced. Multi-cultural, honest, AND Snuffleupagus...a perfect mix.
daphnesays...I'm lobbying for this sift. It's History. Upvote!
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
One vote for Mr. Hooper.
swampgirlsays...that must have been a tough day at work.
oohahhsays...Mistah Hoopah!
swinginpagansays...I remember this!
I actually choked up a little while watching this.
Did admitting that just lose me tough guy points? Crap. Oh well...
daphnesays...YAY to everyone who sifted this! This was a defining moment in some of our lives. Thanks...this meant a lot to me personally.
bamdrewsays...wow
antsays...I don't even remember Mr. Hooper even after I looked him up. Good clip!
http://www.tvacres.com/death_misc_hooper.htm for the transcript.
therealblankmansays...I grew up with Mister Looper (Hooper! Hooper!). Loved him. I was a cranky teenager when he died, and too old to be watching Sesame Street, but I still remember being very sad when I belatedly heard that he had passed.
When our time is done, I hope that we were all able to earn the love and respect that this good man had.
therealblankmansays...Oh, and swinginpagan, your tough guy thing evaporated with the feather boa and blue eyeshadow.
:-)
conansays...That´s just great.
gorillamansays...One of the best and most valuable moments in television.

siftbotsays...Removed video from all channels (nochannel called by gold star member joedirt)
couplandsays...By the time Mr. Hooper died I had already grown out of Sesame Street and never saw this episode when it aired. Watching it in retrospect had me absolutely BAWLING... This is why we remember Sesame Street with such fondness. Because it didn't treat us like gaping maws of consumerism, it treated us with love and compassion...
eric3579says...*dead
