SagemindRememver the 80's movie "V" (for Victory) - In that movie, the "Newcomers reviled the conspiracy that the scientists were all in it together as one massive plot to control people's opinions and mislead them.
In fact, the scientists were their only hope. But after discrediting and getting rid of all the scientists, it was too late to figure out they were the good guys.
It's like the religious-right remember that show and are clinging to that lie that the scientists are all out to get them.
Yes, there are real scientists out there performing pseudo-science for corporate agendas, but there are just as many scientists out there to re-examine and debunk theories and results. The solution is to give those scientists the funding they need to discover, examine and debunk. If more money was available for real science, good scientists wouldn't get sucked into performing the pseudo-science that they get stuck working on.
