I used to hunt black tail deer on the west coast when I was a kid. We always referred to that adrenaline rush as "Buck Fever". What do bear hunters call it?

I get the enjoyment of sitting around watching bears and deer in the wild, and I love archery and shooting sports, but I don't understand being happy about killing an animal. Maybe if I'd wrestled it or something.

Are these bears not a protected species? Are they even remotely close to being endangered?

There are about 400,000 black bear in Canada. They are classified as "Least Concern" in regards to vulnerability.
