RussiaToday Reports On Georgian Troop Presence

From Y/T: "The conflict in South Ossetia has already claimed the lives of at least 2,000 people. More than 30,000 have been displaced. Many of those have no idea where their families and friends are. Or even if they're alive. They have no idea what will happen next."

PROFANE LANGUAGE IN USE!

Do you think that they will stop? With Russia attacking from the black sea?

I think not. Thats the problem, here is there is to much bullshit from both state run medias, and not enough fact.

Yes civilians are dieing, as they always do, thats how a war of civilian attrition works, but it fails. The blitzkrieg didn't work, should they expect any less?

The Washington post is showing it as Russian aggression.

Russian bombers attacked Poti, thats not even close to South Ossetia.

But none of that matters, because as far as I'm concerned any one who thinks war is an answer is a twizzledick(coinage). I had some one near and dear to me say that war is good in that it thins the population out. Any one who has never been in a fight for their lives will spout shit like that out their blow hole.

The next time some one says that a war is a good thing ill say "Good then go fight in it."

“I thought that since U.S. is supporting Georgia there would be some control over the situation in South Ossetia and that there would be a peaceful solution to the conflict. But what is happening there now it’s not just war, but war crimes. George Bush and [Georgian president] Mikhail Saakashvili should answer to the crimes that are being committed – the killing of innocent people, running over by tanks of children and women, throwing grenades into cellars where people are hiding,” Mestas said.

“The war is when military fight against military. But the Georgian army is killing innocent civilians. This is genocide,” he added.

It's hard as hell for an American to know what's going on since we have to learn more about John Edwards and his mistress, first.

Agreed.

Talking about numbers by the way, it's kind of funny (not to say suspicious at the very least) that Russian media have been waving that 2000 (civilian casualties) number for some 4 days now without any changes. Doesn't that strike ANYONE as odd?

So any story that paints Georgia in bad light is propaganda, and any story that paints Russia in bad light is a fact? Did I get that right?

EDDsays...

No, of course I do not share that opinion. First of all, Georgia took a too hot-headed approach to this whole mess to begin with, they probably also should have informed their Western allies before they began the retaliatory strike of August 8th in South Osettia. As for civilian casualties - well, the Osetts did dig themselves in positions among civilians in their capital city, so I'd put the blame on them for any civilian casualties from Georgian shelling. But that's war anyway, you're gonna have collateral damage one way or the other.

And if you're saying that some 99% of info coming from Russian media isn't Kremlin bullet points (we call THAT propaganda), then... well, there's unfortunately no point talking with you then.
