hojusays...This is from Bill's latest show. I found his first question the most interesting - Ron Paul seems more popular with the left than with the right...
choggiesays...up-vote for Ben Affleck never opening his no-ackkin' mouth during the viddy
swampgirlsays...I'm gonna vote this one out and pray that this is the last Maher video I ever see.
couplandsays...One of the things that comforts me about these videos is that Bill Maher and Ron Paul representing the extreme right (both historically libertarians) can have so much in common with the extreme left when everyone comes to the table with common sense and a desire to make things right. The Dems and Republicans spend all their time trying to drive a wedge between the left and right to polarize voters, so people will perceive it as an "us vs. them" scenario. Fact is that when people drop their egos and come to the table with a genuine commitment to doing the right thing, both the left and the right find they have an awful lot to talk about, and even a lot in common.
ValiantCowardsays...Upvote. Ron Paul is a rare breed these days.
HaricotVertsays...I think the most important point they make in this video is that Ron Paul is the most conservative Republican in congress today. It's an incredibly true statement saying that modern Republicans are "neo-conservatives" that have completely departed from classical republicanism (a la Lincoln) and what conservatism really is.
Constitutional_Patriotsays...Has anyone noticed that the mainstream media is not giving Ron Paul anywhere near the same airtime as the neocon group of candidates?
Memoraresays...While i agree with him on this topic, people should look at previous positions he's taken - for example, advocating that the US go back on the gold standard.
To put it politely, the guy is "eccentric".
(a less polite word would be "nuts")
galactic_devsays...Actually, there are legitimate arguments for going on the gold standard, but they have to do with keeping our currency stable by basing it on something and corporate interests are deeply threatened by it and thusly call it crazy. I'm no expert on this, and I don't even have a strong opinion on the issue, so I encourage you to do your own research on it and make up your own mind.
If you want to call him "nuts" for this, you'll have to prove your case, I believe.
hojusays...Anyone who doesn't parrot the mainstream view is "nuts." Galileo was "nuts" when he said the earth revolved around the sun...
