Roger Ailes your Fox News Chairman

Roger Ailes, Fox News chairman rails on liberals at the Annual Radio and Television News Directors Association dinner.Where he was honoured? Way to go mainstream media, always honouring the best.

Be careful watching this you might vomit in your own mouth every time Roger refers to Fox News people as "Journalists". Either way, Roger has built an empire and just in case you want to vomit some more here are some of the lives that have changed thanks to Roger.

Wait are you serious? Selling Fox News bias stance by saying it's an expression of diversity of thought and that people should be able to tell apart the difference between news and opinions especially when you are forcing your version of events over all voices by covering sensationalist news? Then using the constitution to cover that up? Sickening.

I am glad that they chose Roger Ailes for the honor. Of course, he proceeded to use his speaker's box to compare Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden, but that is what demagogues like our version of Father Coughlin do.

Ailes is a great businessperson, though, and probably a genius when it comes to the visual presentation of fake news. The FOX News style has largely infected CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and even the Beeb in such a way that I can no longer tell which one I am watching if the volume is down.

We pretend that there is a church of journalism, pure and apart from the people. But news media has always been driven by market forces and Ailes is particularly astute at throwing red meat to his target audience. He is very good at what he does and he has changed the political landscape in America.

I agree that there never existed a church of journalism, however I do recall something called ethics and individual thought as well. For back in the days of William Randolph Hearst it was called yellow journalism or sensationalism, now days look how Roger Ailes is perfectly capable of defending FOX News slant as a different view of looking at things.

When anyone remotely working in the media can instantly tell you it's all shock and awe for viewership. Today we can tell it's biased, tomorrow when it's the only venue and format of news. How will you know?

rickegeesays...

Hearst probably just called it 'journalism'

The distribution of 'news' is far too fragmented now to realistically worry about whether FOXTV will be a monolithic Death Star presence in the future. In answer to your "How will you know" question -- In TAYTV I trust.

Farhad2000says...

I agree, I don't think we are headed for dominion of Fox News, because of the spread of the internet and what that would mean towards information dissipation between civilians. Information is becoming more and more readily available to those who do not have it.

The future as always rests in the hands of our children

"But news media has always been driven by market forces and Ailes is particularly astute at throwing red meat to his target audience."

Very much agree with that statement, It's probably also the central problem with TV media. They seem to be telling people what they want to hear as oppose to what they should know.

What an idiot. Just because people were outraged that Nev Dem caucus wanted Fox News to have exclusive sponsorship, questions, coverage, and analysis of their debate...

That is somehow a threat to the Freedom of the Press.

Ailes is a threat to Democracy by not doing any real journalism. If you watch Fox and Friends it is very clear that there is NO diversity of thought anywhere on that station. What a hypocrite. You know Germany also had a free press prior to Nazi takeover. They just didn't do their jobs...
