choggiesays...fuckin' great film...on location in Houston, baby...some of it-ground-breakin' near-future fun-
demon_ixsays...I always felt that ED209 was a little too vulnerable. Also, the second film is much better.
blankfistsays...Bad ass.

Demon, you know I love you, but you shame me with this comment... Robocop 1 > all other robocops.
budzossays...I have this on blu-ray and I love it. Robocop 2 is a pretty solid sequel. Robocop 3 and everything after are total shit.
hertzollnersays...Demon_ix, why do you hate America??

Explain how please. Cite examples of its superiority.
shuacsays...^I'm waiting...
demon_ixsays...Bah. I failed to notice all the commotion my comment has caused.
Well, for me, mainly, it's because the bad guy in Robocop 2 is an actual bad guy. Not just some poorly animated bot that gets taken out in one shot... That one actually scared me to some level, especially his eyes.
I don't doubt R3 sucked big metal balls, but IMO, R2 > R1.
budzossays...I don't think "it has a better bad guy" is a valid argument, given that the bad guy in Robocop was not ED-209 but the system of corporate corruption that was behind much of the nastiness in dystopic near-future Detroit. Robocop 2 had some great go-motion animation but overplayed the satire to where the whole anti-corporate message seemed a bit hackneyed and mechanical. Leaving aside everything else, I'd say Robocop is vastly superior for being a film that can be taken as the dumbest of dumb sci-fi action, or appreciated as a fairly spot-on comment on the slippery slope of corporate hegemony.
budzossays...Cain/Robocop 2 was extremely bad-ass though, don't get me wrong!
