Video Flagged Dead

Rashomon (1950) - Akira Kurosawa

The film depicts a rape and murder through the widely differing accounts of four witnesses, including the perpetrator and, through a medium, the murder victim. Each story is mutually contradictory, leaving the viewer unable to determine the truth of the events.

In July 2006, a Japanese court ruled that all Japanese films produced before 1953, including this one, are part of the Public Domain.

I love this film!

Also check out the short story 'In a Grove" by Ryunosuke Akutagawa on which the film is based - it is awesome!

I'm adding this film to my LegalSift playlist because the ideas it raises regarding the subjectivity of truth and the uncertainty of facts should start ringing alarms for any lawyer worth his/her weight!
