do they want everyone to follow the goofy literal rules of their religion or not??? Grow a fucking pair and just say you want people to listen to the bible or you'll kill them. stop beating around the burning bush!

i think the point is, if there is no place for this kind of thing due to relevancy... at what point did the govt decide in the past it WAS relevant? and outlaw abortions, same sex marriage, interracial marriage... at some point someone said no. that is always relevant, and maybe its past time to wait any more to get real answers on why people in congress can decide our personal lives based on their personal religious beliefs (or proclamation of belief)

THIS is why nothing works in government... this kind of BS wasting of time.

this is actually government working

what isn't working is that after being elected, less than 30% of their actual time is spent doing what people voted them in for, the rest of the time is spent meeting with corporate/special interest groups and fundraising, basically making sure that in the future, re-election is assured

government is broken because of outside money, nothing else

The system is broken because it doesn't attract people who actually want to serve very often. The system attracts people who put loopholes in for their corporate buddies or people who want to retire and collect speaking fees when their term is up.

The system is broken because when we have an election, it turns into a reality show and we vote a person in based on whether or not we want to have a beer with them.

The system is broken because the system has devolved into two shitty, pathetic little parties who don't work you and me.

The system is broken because we don't give a damn. We don't care about complex details. We don't care about nuance. The issues of the day cannot be broken down into sound bites. We elect these people, but then we get angry when they inevitably disappoint us. We deserve the people we elect, because we don't demand better.

It becomes a real chicken and egg problem for many voters, I'd like to vote for someone but all we are ever presented with are these self serving assholes, but if I vote for nobody then the system fails because of our non participation. Perhaps we should start counting all the people who don't vote and and consider it a general vote of no confidence against all the current candidates.
We could probably shut down a lot of the bullshit described in the video above by simply requiring that any amendments added to a bill must be relevant to the main bill.
