Prometheus Actually Explained (With Real Answers)

Locquesays...

No-one knew the plot of Lost in its entirety, it's widely known to be bullshit and wrapped after forgetting stuff that was a prominent feature (remember the numbers?)

LOST sucked.

Yeah, already 1 and a half minutes in and already this video's stupid. LOST's plot was conceived as they went, purposefully editing it in response to people's theories of the story so it wasn't "predicted", and ended up being garbage

EvilDeathBeesays...

Christ that video was annoying. 2 try-hard dickheads trying to defend that piece of crap movie and that indecipherable robot voice.
When you have a movie that raises so many questions and answers none of them, relies heavily on external media and lots of tiny hints that is so easily missed to attempt to explain the story, hasn't a single likable or believable character, when it's own DVD release's marketing tagline is "Questions Will Be Answered" just to sell the POS, you simply have a bad movie and no amount of explanation will fix that.

EDIT: I actually believe there could have been a good movie there, and an interesting and mysterious story. However, it was so poorly executed, it's just pretentious wankerey

Draxsays...

This answered some stuff I didn't piece together when watching.

I didn't realize there was a lot of hate for this movie. It had Half-Life's element of making enough sense, but there was obviously a lot more to it you could spend time mulling over and figuring out. I dug it.

rich_magnetsays...

I think it's a great deconstruction of the film, which admittedly left many open questions. Good job piecing together so many disparate clues. Now to look at the other "twin perfect" titles...

Phreezdrydsays...

I generally liked the movie. I didn't think it was full of holes, and anything not explicitly explained you could give some thought and discuss with others, or accept as currently unknowable. I was okay with the ride. The "Alien" universe continues to unfold and I look forward to the next chapter.

This.

This is how I felt about the film. They had a competent director, good actors, GREAT cinematography and visual effects and yet somehow, Prometheus was a complete failure of a film. Prometheus was a terrible film. It was a horribly written story and had terrible dialogue.

Bhruicsays...

Yeah, the "missing link" between chimps and humans that we are still "looking for". No wonder they don't think anyone in the movie was stupid, these guys are apparently just as stupid.

i'm very self deprecative................................................ sorry.

Sorry, but that's your opinion, not fact.

I actually like Prometheus. Sorry guys.

No one minds, but it's not making it any less shit.

You sure seem to love being sorry.

Thought the same thing

Locquesays...

FTR, I liked Prometheus a little bit, but I felt that way too many questions had been built into the movie that didn't have any coherent, or non-retarded answers. Also a bunch of the characters are completely idiotic and incomprehensible. It's a curious mishmash. The thing is, a lot of the questions that people do have are actually answered in the film, if you look hard enough. Others clearly aren't, and this video isn't nearly as plausible as it seems to think it is.

moodoniasays...

I saw this movie last week after carefully avoiding all the hype, press and marketing. I didnt know the plot or the "look" of the film when I watched, and I enjoyed it immensely.

spoco2says...

I wasn't going to watch this, as I was severely let down by Prometheus and thought this would just annoy me.

1:40 in and yup, they are two fan boys with waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on their hands to try to justify themselves liking the movie.

Man, if you like the movie, that's fine, but if you feel you need to feel superior to everyone else for liking it, because you 'get' it but no-one else does... grow the fuck up.

It was a poorly constructed movie that squandered so much potential. If you enjoy it despite that, cool, but don't try to tell those of us who were really fucking annoyed by it that it was actually a good movie and we didn't 'get it'. We 'GOT' it. It was poorly written. The end.

Fletchsays...

IMDB rating 7.3! I liked it!

Laughed at quote from Ty Burr of Boston Globe though...

"Watching Prometheus is like opening a deluxe gift box from Tiffany's to find a mug from the dollar store."

hpqpsays...

I'm only half way through this, and it has me thoroughly annoyed: I actually thought it might answer actual questions, not look down at so many strawmen questions, and with such pretentious gitworthiness too. It also hasn't dealt with the fact that all the so-called "scientists" act so effin' non-scientific.

probiesays...

Like moodonia, I just watched this finally after purposefully avoiding any and all related material about it (save for the initial trailer that was released). Interesting story points, great FX, etc. though the characters were completely one dimensional and there were several things in the movie they could have done better. I kept waiting for it to be a bridge to Alien, like The Thing (2011) was to it's predecessor, but I guess that's not the case here. Overall, I liked it.
