'Portal 2' Confirmed on X-Play!
Posted By: Jonathan Hunt - Thursday, February 21, 2008 5:35 PM

On tonight's episode of X-Play, lead designer for Portal, Kimberly Swift, confirmed that there will be a Portal 2. This is pretty much a given as Doug Lombardi, Valve's Director of Marketing, had previously stated that "more Portal is definitely on the way." However, until now we weren't sure if this would be in the form of a direct sequel or possibly downloadable content. Well, now we know. Check out the video for the confirmation.

Project run-it-into-the-ground is go.

Hopefully they don't ruin Portal by shoving endless sequels down our throats. On the other hand, the Valve development cycle is so long that might not be possible. It will probably be 2020 by the time we see Portal 3.

How has anything about the HL series been run into the ground?

Heaven forbid a developer ship a game that works. Oh, and is loved by all. Yeah, those are two qualities people hate about videogames.

Who cares!? The video CONFIRMS Portal 2!

I care. The title is incredibly misleading, as going into it I think that I'm about to get a taste of it. Not just a five second mention out of a 3+ minute video.

I love the Japanese game show, Cops, and infomercial ch... errr the G4 channel, yeah. Impossible for me to watch it for more than a few minutes without grunting and groaning while feeling super icky and somewhat self-degraded; oh how embarrassed and shamed am I to be a gamer when one of those pretentious, forced, one-dimensional, stereotype-reinforcing G4 commercials play. It's the equivalent of MTV, but for gamers. An inconsequential chunk of the day for game related things(even then the quality has only been going down since the ZDTV/Tech TV days) sandwiched in between hour upon hour of baffling, completely unrelated shit. I'll still be tuning in to watch their E3 coverage, for the games, of course. Technically, I'll be watching mostly commercials and marketing. Fuck me!
