Porsche-powered Karmann Ghia

Jochen Bader's Karmann Ghia RS is one of a kind. It's part Volkswagen, part Porsche and a whole lot of fun. He took the sporty body of a 1970 Karmann Ghia and pumped it full of Porsche technology. The result is a Ghia with an output of 321 horsepower and a top speed of more than 300 kilometers an hour.

"The Ghia had good aerodynamics from the start..."
It has terrible aerodynamics. That rounded front pushes air underneath the body.

Over 300kph? (~190mph) I don't think so.
Only in very short bursts. They show him hitting 174mph but I'm guessing he backed off quick.

I have about 130hp in mine and I once had it just under 120mph At that speed, the front wheels were scary loose. It felt like a sudden headwind would have sent me airborne. It's fun for short bursts of acceleration though.

100% guaranteed it's not the only one of it's kind. Porsche stuff is almost a direct bolt in replacement for VW parts, I raced a VW powered buggy and it used Porsche parts.
It may have a few modifications that are unique, but the overall idea is far from new. I've seen V-8s swapped into VWs.
It needs front and side spoilers to reach his claimed speeds with any control. I think that's a theoretical top speed.

That distinctive Porsche sound too....(cue dryer full of empty paint cans.)
