http://www.betanews.com/joewilcox/article/Is-People-Staring-at-Computers-performance-art-or-criminal-act-video/1310059698 According to what Mashable claims is an exclusive report, the Secret Service raided the home of artist Kyle McDonald earlier today. The video above made the tech news this week, and now the computers producing it are gone -- confiscated in the raid.
Last month, McDonald installed software on Macs in Apple Stores to capture screenshots of shoppers and even employees. This week he posted a video and photos and also set up exhibitions inside two Apple stores.
"During the unauthorized event at the Apple stores on West 14th Street and in Soho, when people looked at an Apple store machine, they saw a picture of themselves", Sarah Kessler writes. "Then they saw photos of other people staring at computers. Amazingly, nobody made a fuss".
Well, perhaps Apple fussed, given McDonald's unexpected Secret Service search and seizure today.

vaire2ubesays...now he can do one about staring at bars ... too soon?
blankfistsays..."I've been thinking about how we stare at computers."
Get. A. Fucking. Job.
RedSkysays...How did Apple authorize them to do this? Quick and simple way to alienate customers.
residuesays...I don't think anyone would "get it" without being told what was happening.. If I were using a computer in a store and a picture of someone's face popped up I would think "what is this stupid picture.." I would not think "OH! This is what we must look like when we stare at computer screens! We should all be more self aware of our facial expression in public!"
antsays...Thanks God I don't have a computer camera and mic(rophone) [wait, how do you disable an onboard/internal one like you put a tape over the camera on a lappy?]

I am staring at my computer on VS.
bcglorfsays...So, the guy installed his own software on other people's computers, used it to spy on them and their customers and broadcast the video of these people using those same computers.
So because he calls it art or social commentary, does that suddenly mean he hasn't violated multiple laws?
RFlaggsays...Sadly *dead
siftbotsays...This video has been declared non-functional; embed code must be fixed within 2 days or it will be sent to the dead pool - declared dead by RFlagg.
RFlaggsays...A possible fix (not 100% this is the same so not going to call a backup... not even sure I have that kind of power yet)
