From Local 10tvNews:
It was a celebration that took to the streets, to the stadium and off campus.

Thousands were enjoying the buckeye victory Tuesday morning as the new national champions in the first ever College Football Playoff National Championship.

But along with celebrations, police knew there were going to be trouble spots and the first sign of it came in the form of fires.

Almost immediately after the win, fires were spotted off campus along Indianola Avenue.

Students began lighting up trash and couches in the front yards, and that meant Columbus Firefighters had to respond immediately to put them out.

The fires spread from couches and trash cans to dumpsters.

One after another surfaced throughout the morning and arson investigators will be taking a closer look to see if they can charge anyone with the damage that was caused.

Firefighters responded quickly to the series of fires, avoiding any injuries or major damage.

Most fires were contained to items that were burned in the front yards.

Firefighters told 10TV that they anticipated this kind of reaction.

Though it was a stressful morning, they are just happy that they could contain the fires before anyone got hurt.

Fires were just the tip of the trouble.

Some students and fans got a taste of tear gas as they tried to celebrate at Mirror Lake on south campus.

Police used tear gas to break up celebrating fans who wanted to take a dip in the water, even though it was frozen.

Police told 10TV their biggest concern for this crowd was safety and they needed to disperse the crowd quickly and safely.

Mirror Lake was not the only place police were forced to use tear gas and pepper spray around campus.

Police stopped hundreds of people from scaling the fences around Ohio Stadium and prevented them from getting a piece of the Shoe.

According to police, some people did get inside, but they were immediately escorted out of the stadium.

It is unclear whether any damage was caused inside.
