O'Reilly Interviews Marilyn Manson

brnzsays...

Its amazing that this was a well spoken, mature, intelligent conversation. Manson backed up all of the crap OReilly threw at him.

I tend to respect Marylin Manson as a musician and as a person. Sure he might be a freak - but you don't see him on the news daily being pulled over screaming anti-sematitism to the local constables now do you? He tends to keep it on the stage where it belongs.

Last thing - O'Reilly kept throwing the fact that "children might not have people who love them or a good role model" um.. how is this Manson's fault? Its about time to start blaming the cause - the irresponsible parent and not the outside influence for these types of kids.

When Bill said "Never before in the history of this country have so many corrupting influences descended upon children at one time.", I just laughed so hard. I think that's bull and quite ironic. I wonder if Bill counts himself in there. O'Reilly Factor for Kids anyone? Got to get those kids hooked on Fox News early.

I also thought it was funny that the segment was called "Children at Risk". Fox News, preying on your fears.

Everyone seems surprised at Marilyn Manson's conduct during this interview. Having seen him interviewed before, and having listened to his music and seen him in concert, I'm not at all surprised.

My surprise is at Bill O'Reilly, whom I've seen many times on his show, and in interviews elsewhere. This is definitely the most relaxed, professional and polite I've seen him. I still find most of his points to be invalid (though not by such a degree as I usually do), but he was polite, he did not interrupt as frequently as he normally does, and his questions were at least mildly well thought out (though poorly researched and completely loaded against Manson).

In my opinion, O'Reilly is completley entitled to his opinion, and to express his opinion. My problem with him is not quite so often what he says as how he says it, and what he won't allow his guests to say no matter how hard they're trying to get it out. He should model future interviews on this one.

i agree with phelixian up there. i don't really like Marilyn's music, but i totally respect him. he is a very impressive guy when you see him talking normally in interviews and stuff. i saw him in Bowling For Columbine and i was impressed there too

I don't think any of that is O'Reilly's opinion. He just says what he thinks his audience believes. If he thinks his audience wants to believe that Marilyn Manson is making kids kill themselves rather than their own parenting, he'll espouse that view and be all moral-highground about it.

It's like watching Law & Order. Every fear the average uneducated, uninformed American has is represented in some episode of Law & Order.
