New teaser for HBO's "Game of Thrones" - Raven

2011 can't come soon enough.

George R. R. Martin's books? Are they really making this story into a movie?

Much as I'd love to think otherwise, I don't see how it can be done...at least not without slashing the story to ribbons. There's just way too much content in any -one- of the books for a movie.

It's a TV serie, not a movie, and it's on HBO, which usually means quality.

As far as i know, the first season will be based on the first book only. That gives quite enough time to tell the story and introduce most of the cast without rushing things.

Ah, I can revert to my initial anticipation then. A show or mini-series at least has the possible scope to do this series justice. And you're right, HBO has done a number of very good shows. I rather suspect this story far surpasses the usual level of quality they start with...it'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

As a side note, I like your comment about introducing the cast...but I do wonder if they'll have any problem finding enough short-timers. Martin kills off main characters faster than any other writer I've ever read.

Spend 1300 pages building a character, only to slaughter him in the last 10...no problem.
