Yogisays..."This is exactly the same sets of steps they took before invading Iraq. First sanctions, then false accusations, and invasion."
The problem with this is that it is against our policy to wage War against anyone who can defend themselves. Just look at the past conflicts after Vietnam, every country we've attacked is extremely weak militarily, nearly completely helpless and cannot defend itself whatsoever. Iran is not that, they can defend themselves somewhat, so we're not going to attack them because it's not smart. The American people are sick of these sorts of wars but they tolerate them when we steamroll the fizuck out of fools. If we actually started to incur some real loses (See Iraq) they will start getting really riled just like in the 60's. Policy makers know this and they aren't going to risk something like this. So although I deplore the saber rattling towards Iran, we're not going to invade them which is a sign at how far we've come as a nation.

Regardless of whether we're pro or con etc, I'm trying to imagine how gullible someone would have to be to seriously suggest that Iran isn't going to develop nuclear weapons.
thealisays...So you are fine with Minority Report style's proactive crime prevention?
The point is that Iran is only exercising its legal right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. They were granted that right by abiding by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The whole point of the treaty is to prevent development of nuclear weapons.
Also Iran signed an agreement with Turkey and Brazil, committing itself to sending out the nuclear fuel for enrichment, so that it can't develop weapons. That was what US was asking for, but the Obama administration promptly rejected that agreement.
I highly suggest watching this TYT clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2maR95neOJc

The legal system routinely issues e.g. restraining orders even though someone hasn't actually killed their wife yet.
Nobody can claim Iran isn't likely to be a nuclear power soon. They've had plenty of opportunities for rational cooperation, but they're a militaristic theocracy with every incentive to develop nuclear weapons. Strangely, Iran is probably one of the only countries in the world whose official proclamations are accepted uncritically by Western liberals.
If we only listen to culture warrior sources, we're setting traps for our intelligence that we'll never discover --until our predictions fail (and we ignore it or blame someone else).
