The Spurs' keeper, Heurelho Gomes, flaunted the golden rule about playing to the whistle, threw the ball to the floor in expectation of a free-kick, and was horribly embarrassed when Nani emerged from behind him and, after hesitating for what seemed like an eternity to see if a decision was going to be given, knocked it past the goalkeeper and into the net.
