I never thought I would say this, but even though the cops' use of violence utterly disgusts me here, I must say that I have some sympathy for them. Their job is to make sure that laws don't get broken. This guy was clearly violating a law, and they did try hard to be nice at first.

The law may be stupid, and the use of a taser may have been completely unjustified, but dude should have backed down and been a wizard again, long before things got so out of hand.

I do admire his courage for getting naked in the first place.

grintersays...

The 'look' at 48 seconds was hilarious.
The use of excessive force is illegal and a greater offense than public nudity (at a private event). That's not hilarious.

vairetubesays...

the cops SPECIFICALLY say, put your clothes on and you can go and have a good time. They even offer to get them for him. They even say please. I would have tasered him too...

... but not in the back of the skull or the heart, for appearance sake... booo!!! plus the taser must be out of batteries... cause damn! that was the most badass tasering with the least results ive ever seen...

i think its kinda neat how many people just have recording and communication devices out, though... that wouldnt have been even close to possible a few decades ago... so accountability is increased... and that's a step towards the transparency needed in our world.

Psychologicsays...

He was resisting arrest, but he wasn't doing anything that could be considered aggressive or threatening.

Any two people of reasonable physical fitness could have subdued him with a pair of handcuffs (reasonable meaning you can walk up a flight of stairs without breathing hard).

longdesays...

I deplore police violence when law abiding citizens are harassed and abused for no reason. This ass was clearly breaking the law; even then, they gave him a thousand chances to make it right.

On top of that, he resisted arrest, wrestled with the officers, and grabbed at the officers' clothes and belts. Must be nice to walk away from that alive. I cannot imagine grabbing at an officer's paraphanalia and leaving unshot. The reason it took four cops to handle that guy is because they were being gentle. The taser wasn't even turned up high.

People have been beaten and killed by the cops for much less, many of whom didn't even break the law; yet this jackass thinks that he can flaunt his lawlessness with impunity.

I must admit, being the recipient of alot of police harassment over the years, I resent 'naked man' highly. Some of us don't have the privilege to taunt officers without consequence.

ObsidianStormsays...

Who gives a fuck if the guy is naked? This is a perfect example of a 'problem' that takes care of itself. Give the guy no attention, The novelty wears off and the guy leaves or gets dressed (probably the latter if it cooled off).

Yeah the guy was 'breaking the law' but it really should be at the cops' discretion whether the situation requires strict enforcement or not. In this case, the cops' actions were the greater evil.

The guy presented no threat to public safety. In fact he provided a feel-good service. He made all the men around feel well-endowed.

arvanasays...

Naked Wizard Guy did make a crotch grab on the cop who then pulled his taser. Watch @ 2:50. If the cop is a homophobic bully that's a pretty hard thing to stand for.

csnel3says...

That fat ass pig at 3:00 kneed him in the chest and escalated the whole thing up a notch. These cops are all fat ass pusssie pigs.

I'm all angry right now.

That crowd should have gotten involved. Porkys would have been owned.

Everey thing about this vid is sad...UPVOTE:)

kymbossays...

If the worst thing that happens at a music festival these days is that a magician takes his clothes off, the cops must have acted out of sheer boredom.

Fucking hell, these are places that people go to take drugs and do silly things. The organisers should have security, not cops. Security to deal with silly people taking drugs. Tasers are completely excessive.

MaxWildersays...

There are some people here that don't seem to understand: the cops HAVE to do something about that guy. The CAN NOT just let a guy run around naked. Yeah, blame our prudish society, but don't blame the cops. They were more than generous offering to let an obviously intoxicated man walk away if he simply put his clothes back on.

HOWEVER, these were the most incompetent cops I've seen in quite a while. When the guy threw away his clothes the second time, it should have been insta-cuffs and gone, with two of them hauling him away and a third carrying his effects. This 15 minute melee was absolutely ridiculous, and the completely ineffective use of the taser just made it that much worse.

The reason these guys are working music festivals instead of patrolling our cities is pretty clear here.

Bruti79says...

It looked like the guy was pepped up on some ecstasy. Should have been cuffed and hauled away, it all went down hill when the cop dropped his knee onto the chest and then he got tased...multiple times. Geez, they're lucky the crowd didn't turn on them right there.

I blame each of them individually. I blame their colleagues and superiors. I blame the lawmakers and the people who empower them.

Each of these cops made a personal, particular decision to act.

From the purest objective perspective, they saw a man committing no moral crime, harming no one, and they decided, each of them on their own terms they decided, that the correct response to that situation was to harass, intimidate, demand, and ultimately assault and detain that man.

They saw a man in breach of an unjust law, and because they're corrupt, chose law over morality.

They saw a man, doing nothing wrong, and attacked him for it.

jakesays...

I can't wait until cops just start tasering people as soon as they feel like it. It's not like they get punished for it beyond perhaps a slap on the wrist if they're unlucky. The poor dude has suffered enough with the tiny dick let alone being tasered what, 4 times in a row.

lavollsays...

We give some people the privilige of using violence in a service to protect and serve the community. This also includes protecting people from themselves when needed.
High on lsd in the park, the police deem you not able to take care of yourself, so what do you do... bring him in and let the drugs wear off ina cell, or display your pathetic lack of both physical ability and lack of judgement?
What kind of result does the pig think he will get from kneeing him in the chest. "yeah that will teach him to behave"??!?!? this pathetic policing by fat, untrained pork boys high on the power their uniforms give them.

ElessarJDsays...

Maybe they were a bit violent, particularly the knee to the chest and aggressive tasering. But he deserved the grief he brought upon himself. It's just a shame they couldn't manage to subdue him a bit more peacefully.

Why did he deserve it? Why did he need to be subdued?

grintersays...

It's kinda sad that a guy who tosses off his clothes after deciding that they are a silly and useless convention of society ends up with people making fun of the size of his dick.
Guy tries to open up and look at the big picture, and is greeted with the same old aggressive routine.

jwraysays...

Excessive force. It's pathetic that 3 cops couldn't cuff that lardo without using a taser 5 times, pathetic that laws of censorship exist against a petty annoyance, pathetic that those laws may be enforced with violence, and pathetic that the cops chose to enforce unjust laws.

blankfistsays...

Typical to see the vocal liberals lazily yelling for their precious authority to stop, and yet doing nothing to stop them. "Why doesn't our democracy work?! Waaaa! Why don't our police protect us when we pay them 50% of our income?"

This is further proof we should carry guns and protect ourselves against the tyranny of government. Who gives two shits if this guy is naked?! And on private property?!

And am I the only one that thinks that guy looks like he has a white pixel over a vagina? Think about it.

blankfistsays...

VideoSift and hobbling has nothing to do with this video, because VS is a website, hobbling is a website punishment, and this is actually violent abuse from cops in the real world.

One is business administration. One is tyranny.

LordOderussays...

Yes the guy was being difficult. Yes he should have just put his clothes on. In fairness, the cops did give him several chances to just get dressed again and move on.

However when he refused, all the cops had to do was cuff him and take him away. I'm 140lbs soaking wet, never had any police training, and EVEN I could have cuffed that guy without tasering him and dropping a knee on his sternum.

Honestly, the knee to the chest is far more frightening to me than the taser. That knee drop could have easily broken that mans Xiphoid process which can kill you pretty quickly. As much as the taser was unnecessary and I'm sure terribly unpleasant for the naked man, at least it wasn't extremely life threatening.

RCaughsays...

Broken laws or not, clothes or no clothes, penis or no penis, initial attempts at reasoning or not, this action by the police was clearly excessive violence. Once tasered, the man was obviously subdued enough to handcuff and arrest. Personally, I believe he could have been cuffed by these three very large men without unnecessary tasering. The knee to the spleen and excessive tasering afterward was nothing short of attempted murder. This will not go unpunished. The cop in the hat can kiss his career goodbye and look forward to some very serious charges that will likely see him serving time. This guy will be a wealthy man once the lawyers are done with this. None of these "peace officers" can be allowed to continue on the force.

P.S. Oh, and let this be a lesson to us all, once they put on the gloves, you're goin downtown dead or alive.

JAPRsays...

gonna jump out on a limb here and say *wtf.

Wtf about this turning into some sort of spectator sport, where most of the crowd is just standing around watching and doing absolutely nothing.

Wtf about the officers's inability to take care of the situation without busting out the taser

Wtf about this whole goddamn thread with all the hatred and anger towards authority that people are expressing

bealsububsays...

I think there are a couple things to really keep in mind here that people don't realize. First, they did ask him several times to put his clothes on and each time he threw them and taunted them saying "I don't care". Second, this guy was obviously on ALOT of drugs because it is very few SOBER people that can get tasered even once without falling to the floor and urinating themselves! The fact that he got up SEVERAL times after the first incident goes to show he had drug-strength. Those of you who say that these "fat cops" can't handle them should try to handle someone on drugs and see how well you do. Anyone tried to handle someone on PCP?

It really is a sad incident, but honestly I think people are too quick to blame the cops for maltreatment. There are cops that are unjust, but it is clear that these ones did everything they could considering someone else could've come and started a riot. If you think you can do better at protecting the streets from men with small wieners on drugs then go for it!

RCaughsays...

I can't understand why anyone would think their handling of this was appropriate. I saw at least six opportunities to cuff this guy without tasering him at all. As this progressed, it clearly became a case of police brutality and could be considered attempted murder. If on drugs and as heavy as his is, the result could have been a heart attack. You tell me why it was OK for the big guy to knee crunch him when he was flat on his back and when that had him doubled over in pain OK to taser him repeatedly on the chest and neck. Should they use this video in the police training exercises on, "How to handle a naked drunk at a party?"

What year are you living in where people are taking PCP?

This guy was clearly on MDMA, yet none of that is an excuse for these pigs tazing the crap out of him. Do people think that cops had no abilities to handcuff someone before tazers were invented?

uggh

lavollsays...

they were in no danger, no use of knee drop on chest and taser needed at all. like said above, there were ton of opportunities to put cuffs on him, they didnt, they wanted to beat him up instead. nice serving and protecting.

RCaughsays...

It seems the Indio police authorities have watched the video and deemed the actions of the officers completely justified and appropriate to the situation. Live in fear oh Indioans, live in fear. Glad I don't live there. If you care to protest this brutal action, email them at Council@indio.org

jersalv1says...

Wow, most of these posts are ten pounds of crazy in a five pound bag. First, I am going to let you all know that I am very liberal, I detest abuse of power and I have a strong belief in personal rights. Now that that's been said, I don't understand the reaction to this video. That moron was obviously totally high and breaking the law. The police officers were much more lenient than they had to be, they even asked the douchebag in question to please put his clothes back on and they would leave him alone. Those guys were only doing their job, a job I am thankful I do not have to do. However, I will definitely say that the tazer was unnecessary. This guy should have been taken away quickly and quietly. The bottom line is that Mr Wizard was breaking the law (and a just law at that) and the police enforced the law.

PS. This guy deserved to be arrested for possession of the world's smallest dick
