I have a new favorite example for when people ask why I hate gratuitous slow-mo.

This show is so silly. Rather than taking their working toy and testing it further (to determine range, accuracy, penetrating power, reliability etc.) they try untiringly to blow it up. It's like they feel they've failed if they don't destroy stuff. So the end result is that the cannon may have worked, but they have no idea how well it may have worked.
