Moving car + bowling ball + ramp = BAD IDEA

UmberGryphonsays...

Presumably they rolled the bowling ball from the car. Because objects in motion tend to stay in motion, the bowling ball had the exact same speed as the car did. So as long as the lateral movement lined up, this "accident" was practically guaranteed.

I think their best bet would have been to keep the car moving the same speed, or accelerate.

By my reckoning, after the ball hits the ramp, some of its forward momentum gets converted to vertical motion, and in the horizontal direction it will then be moving slower than the car. So slowing or stopping gives the most risk of being hit.

But then, hindsight is 20/20 -- they probably didn't believe they would even get the ball to hit the ramp!
