Sunday Buckets may or may not be a band you have ever heard of. It is, most definitely, a band name you have never heard, as it stands uniquely alone. This is not about a band name however, but rather what that name stands for and who stands behind it. Six twenty-something friends unite under this moniker, and they continue to make music that gives the name Sunday Buckets its’ credibility. They have described their music as indie-pop, or indie-rock, but often find it hard to label. Forming in 2006, the band mates knew little about playing music, let alone writing songs. Since then however, they have worked hard to produce two albums, 2009’s In Case You Hear This and 2011’s Curious Crimes, which is scheduled for release on May 22nd. They were local radio station The Zone at 91.3fm’s band of the month for October 2009, featuring their single Aftermathmatics. Despite a difficult year in 2010 after their original drummer quit, the boys have honed their live show by playing sold out venues throughout Victoria, including The Rifflandia Festival, opening for K’Naan, as well as spots opening for Hey Ocean!, Said The Whale, Seawolf, and Wide Mouth Mason. They have hired former Armchair Cynics guitarist and producer extraordinaire Adam Sutherland to sit behind the drum kit and seem poised to break out of the local music scene in Victoria.
