In Mississippi, six former officers are being sentenced for their roles in a series of brutal attacks. The self-proclaimed "Goon Squad" members pleaded guilty to assaulting two Black men by repeatedly shocking them with Tasers, sexually assaulting them with a sex toy and shooting one man in the face, nearly killing him. John Yang discussed the case with Brian Howey of Mississippi Today.

The “goon squad” operated with impunity for decades, torturing, robbing, sexually abusing, murdering, etc. innocent citizens they suspected of crimes and were never questioned or reprimanded despite hundreds of official complaints including many made directly to the Sheriff, who in typical fashion for police denies all knowledge of the violent gang under his authority that terrorized and murdered citizens for decades and has refused to step down despite his abject and complete failure to police even his own officers.

These aren’t bad apples, they’re the ideal for police, what they aspire to be. A gang of Judge Dredds with zero oversight and an army of backup. It’s absolutely impossible that they could continue this terrorism for decades without the entire force being complicit. Every officer in that county should be degloved alive and left outside for wolves…maybe their children too, send a message and stop any vendetta.
